About Us

Kristie R. Chandler, MD, FAAP

Dr. Chandler has been practicing general pediatrics in Montgomery County since moving to The Woodlands in 1997. She has witnessed many changes as our population has increased, patient needs have expanded, and medical services have advanced at record pace. Such growth was largely the reason for the inception of Hometown Pediatrics.

Dr. Chandler, though a die-hard Aggie, received her medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas in 1992. She completed her pediatrics internship and residency at Children’s Medical Center of Dallas. Throughout her two decades living in The Woodlands, Dr. Chandler has served the medical community heading numerous hospital pediatric committees. She has two sons who currently attend Texas A&M University in College Station. Se habla español.

Hometown Trivia! An avid triathlete, Dr. Chandler’s perseverance helped her to swim, bike, run and complete her first 140.6 mile Ironman at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, in the summer of 2008 with four generations of family members cheering her on! She then went on to finish the inaugural Ironman Texas in The Woodlands setting a personal record.

Tony John, MD, FAAP

Dr. John received his medical degree in 2002 from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. He performed his pediatrics residency at the same institution, working in the Texas Medical Center at Memorial Hermann Children’s Hospital and M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, as well as Lyndon B. Johnson General Hospital. Following his pediatric training, Dr. John has been a Hometown Pediatrics mainstay. Always involved in the local pediatric community, Dr. John has participated in numerous hospital committees and was the Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital for 2009.

Hometown Trivia! Dr. John is a huge fan of all things superheroes and sci-fi, which he enthusiastically shares with his 6-year-old son!

“”Mona Smith, MD, FAAP

Dr. Smith received her medical degree in 1984 from King Fasail University College of Medicine and Medical Sciences in Dammam, Saudi Arabia. She practiced in Saudi Arabia for two years before moving to the United States, where she then completed a pediatric residency at The University of California at Irvine. She subsequently served as the program’s chief resident, educating future pediatricians. Dr. Smith practiced pediatrics in California and Connecticut before moving to Texas in 2000. Before coming on board with Hometown Pediatrics, Dr. Smith practiced for years at The Woodlands Kelsey-Seybold Clinic, for a time as Kelsey-Seybold’s staff hospitalist. In this role, she gained valuable experience caring for both newborns and sick children admitted to The Woodlands’ Memorial Hermann and St. Luke’s hospitals.

Hometown Trivia! Dr. Smith completed a half-marathon in San Antonio in 2009. She still enjoys running, as well as traveling with her husband & teenage daughter.

“” Sarah E. Moore, MD, FAAP

Dr. Moore received her medical degree in 2007 from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas.  Upon graduation, she joined the Baylor College of Medicine pediatric residency program caring for patients at Texas Children's Hospital and Ben Taub General Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.  In her final year of residency, she was privileged to serve as Chief Resident for the program.  After completion of her residency, Dr. Moore began her practice with the physician staff at Texas Children's Pediatrics-Piney Point.  A family move to The Woodlands provided her the opportunity to join Hometown Pediatrics.

Hometown Trivia!   Dr. Moore was raised in Klein, Texas.  She is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys participating in neighborhood activities with her husband and two daughters.  Relaxing time includes triathlons, hot yoga and reading. In 2017, Dr. Moore competed in her very first Ironman (Texas) and crushed the course, finishing at 10:33:34! We are so proud of her!
